Lu Fang is the deputy director of the ophthalmology department at West China Hospital, Sichuan University. She is an experienced retinal surgeon with a special interest in pediatric retinal diseases. Prof Lu is actively involved in clinical teaching and research, as well as community service. With the collaboration and support of various department, Prof Lu established a multidisciplinary care system in south-west China for the screening and treatment of pediatric retinal diseases including retinopathy of prematurity, congenital retinal diseases, neuro-ophthalmological diseases, and intraocular tumors. She has also been involved in the basic and clinical research of the gene therapy of AMD and inherited retinal diseases. She published over 100 scientific papers regarding the mechanism and treatment of macular diseases and pediatric retinal diseases. She is an invited speaker and faculty member at numerous regional and international conferences. She is the executive director of the editorial office of Chinese Journal of Ocular Fundus Diseases and reviewer for the journals of Eye, Journal of Ophthalmology and Retina.
Currently, she serves as active member of many organizations: Board member of Chinese Neuro-ophthalmology Society, Neuro-ophthalmology Society of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, Ophthalmic Committee of Chinese Women’s Doctor Association, Ophthalmic Committee of Chinese Pediatric Society, Chairman of the Ophthalmology Committee of the Chinese Society of Toxicology. She is the Deputy Director of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Sichuan Medical Association, Chairman of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Sichuan Association for Maternal and Child Health, Chairman of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Sichuan Geriatric Medical Association, Chairman of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Sichuan Medical and Health Promotion Association, Vice president of Ophthalmic Committee of Chinese Geriatric Medicine, Board member of Neuro-ophthalmology Committee of the Chinese Research Hospital Association, Chairman of the Ocular Health Committee of Sichuan Preventive Medicine Association, board member of Child Health Committee of China Maternal and Child Health Association, board member of ocular tumor group of ophthalmic committee of Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine.
