The Eighth West China Respiratory Young Physicians Forum was held by our hospital in Chengdu from July 11 to 13. More than 900 experts and young scholars in the field of respiratory medicine from home and abroad attended the forum, including Academician Wang Chen, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of the Peking Union Medical College and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Professor Luca Richeldi from Gemelli Hospital in Italy, Professor Charles A. Powell from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in the United States, and our hospital's President Luo Fengming. The live broadcast of the meeting was watched by more than 38,800 people.

Academician Wang Chen and President Luo Fengming delivered opening remarks, wishing the forum a complete success and encouraging young physicians to strive for excellence in medical science. Subsequently, the launch ceremony of the "14th Five-Year Plan" graduate textbook "Introduction to Precision Medicine" was held on site. The book is edited by Professor Li Weimin, the director of the Institute of Respiratory and Comorbidities of our hospital, aiming to combine the theory, advanced technology, and clinical practice of precision medicine to provide valuable learning resources for students in clinical medicine and related fields.

This forum featured a main venue and several sub-venues covering chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung function, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer and interventional fields, infection, transplantation, tuberculosis, respiratory critical care, respiratory rehabilitation therapy, tobacco, sleep, nursing, pulmonary embolism and pulmonary vascular disease, asthma, and interventional treatment of COPD. It included more than 110 academic reports, 5 clinical technology workshops, as well as clinical case competitions, clinical research challenges, debates, and thematic seminars. The forum covered a wide range of respiratory diseases and provided a broad platform for young physicians to showcase their talents and exchange experiences. The forum also held the national multicenter clinical research investigators' meetings of the asthma BAIYUN, asthma SHR-1703-302 project, and ABPA-SHR-1703 IIT project led by WCH.
