WCH held welcome ceremony for Mozambican doctors

On March 3, West China Hospital (WCH) held a welcome ceremony for Mozambican doctors who came to the hospital for further training. Attending the ceremony were Liu Cheng, Director of the International Cooperation Office of the Health Commission of Sichuan Province, Liu Lunxu, Executive Vice President of WCH, heads and physician representatives of relevant clinical departments, directors of administration departments, and four doctors from Maputo Central Hospital in Mozambique who were here for training.

At the ceremony, Executive Vice President Liu Lunxu stated that WCH has always attached great importance to foreign aid work and hoped that both sides could use this training opportunity to enhance mutual understanding, lay the foundation for long-term cooperation, and jointly draw a beautiful blueprint for China-Africa health cooperation with medical technology as the bond and friendship as the bridge.

The Human Resources Department and International Office respectively introduced the history and current situation of WCH, the history of foreign aid, the background of the China-Africa counterpart hospital cooperation mechanism construction, and the training plan. The four Mozambican doctors will go to the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Department of Orthopedics, Rehabilitation Medicine Center, and Department of Anesthesiology and Operating Room for a four-week training program respectively.

The four trainee doctors expressed their gratitude to our hospital for the learning opportunity and said that they would study hard to acquire professional knowledge and advanced medical technology, deeply experience the academic atmosphere and culture of our hospital, and take back the knowledge they have learned and the warmth they have felt to contribute to the medical cause of Mozambique.

Subsequently, Executive Vice President Liu Lunxu presented the white uniforms and name badges to the trainee doctors, wishing them a fulfilling and enjoyable time, and hoping that they would gain knowledge, friendship, and valuable experience.
