On May 30, 2022, the lung transplantation team, led by Professor Liu Lunxu and Professor Pu Qiang and assisted by the multi-disciplinary team from the departments of Thoracic Surgery, Respiratory Medicine, Anesthesiology, Operating Room, ICU and Rehabilitation, successfully completed a case of “video-assisted mini-thoracotomy allogeneic right lung transplantation.” After researching relevant literature and reports, it was found that this is the first time that the concept of “minimally invasive” has been put into practice in the field of lung transplantation in West China, and that the lung transplantation has been completed through the video-assisted mini-thoracotomy (VAMT).

As early as 2007, the lung transplantation team has completed the first sequential allogeneic double lung transplantation without cardiopulmonary bypass in Southwest China. The team is composed of medical experts from the departments of Thoracic Surgery, Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Anesthesia Operation Center, ICU and Rehabilitation. After years of practice and development, it has got mature technology and rich experience in lung transplantation including single-lung transplantation, double-lung transplantation and lung lobe transplantation.
