On July 6, a delegation led by Mr. Anthony Preston, Consul General of British Consulate General Chongqing Consul, and Professor Vincent Sai, CEO of Modality Group, visited West China Hospital, Sichuan University (WCH). Professor Hu Jiankun, Vice President of WCH, received the delegation in Conference Room 3 of the Administration Building. Representatives from relevant departments and divisions attended the meeting.
Professor Hu, on behalf of the hospital, extended a warm welcome to Consul General Preston and Professor Sai. He noted that the first contact between WCH and Modality Group was made during the World Health Expo Dubai in February this year. With strong support from the Consulate General, cooperation between the two sides has moved forward quickly. On July 4, Modality and the WCH General Practice Department successfully conducted their first joint training session. Experts from both sides overcame time zone and geographic barriers to engage in practical exchanges on general practice medicine, laying a solid foundation for broader future collaboration.
Consul General Preston expressed his gratitude for the warm reception. He noted that WCH's international influence in the medical community continues to grow, and the hospital has already established in-depth partnerships with UK institutions including the University of Oxford, University College London, and the University of Liverpool. Citing the consensus reached by the two countries' leaders, he highlighted healthcare and education as key areas of UK-China cooperation. He expressed his expectation to facilitate more exchanges and collaboration between UK institutions and WCH.
Professor Vincent Sai commended the pragmatic approach of the WCH team. He noted that the first joint training session received overwhelmingly positive feedback and achieved strong results. As the largest general practice group in the UK, Modality looks forward to deeper collaboration with WCH in research, clinical trials, and other areas.
Following the meeting, the WCH International Cooperation Office and General Practice Department held further discussions with the UK delegation.
