On September 12, the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China released the 2025 list of world’s leading sci-tech journals. Three English-language journals affiliated with West China Hospital, Sichuan University (WCH)—Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy, Journal of Evidence-Based Medicine, and Psychoradiology—were included in the list.

This year’s list selected 6,132 journals across 23 languages and 55 countries and regions worldwide. The United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, and China ranked among the top five in terms of journal numbers. China had 353 journals selected, accounting for 5.8% of the total. The release of this list provides fair and equitable evaluation criteria for sci-tech journals across different countries and languages, giving journals from emerging countries and newly launched journals equal evaluation opportunities. It holds significant importance for promoting the high-quality development of sci-tech journals, optimizing the global academic ecosystem, and advancing scientific and technological innovation and exchange.

The simultaneous inclusion of these three English-language journals represents full recognition of WCH's journal publishing quality, academic standards, international dissemination capacity, and standardized management. WCH will take this opportunity to stay at the forefront of medical science and technology, leverage its clinical and research strengths, and build a high-level international academic exchange platform. The hospital aims to attract more original and leading-edge research, support medical science and technology innovation and the development of world’s leading sci-tech journals and make greater contributions to serving the Healthy China strategy and advancing global medical development.
